Webkinz 2017 Summer Mystery Clothing Bags

Hello Webkinz friends! I hope you’ve been enjoying your summer! 🙂 I definitely have! One of the things I like best about the change of seasons in Webkinz world is the arrival of new mystery clothing bags.

The 2017 Summer Mystery Clothing Bags arrived at the Ganz eStore earlier this month. I had some eStore points saved up from my Deluxe membership, so I was able to buy several bags, and I got lots of really cute and fun new clothes for my pets…and some great items for trading!

I always like to make videos when I open up bags or boxes, and this time was no exception. 🙂 I hope you enjoy the video! Let me know in the comments which pieces of clothing you like best!

Adopting a Webkinz Summer Beaver

July is a great month to adopt a Summer Beaver in Webkinz World!

If you have a Summer Beaver, you’ll get to enjoy bonus activities each day throughout July – like the Reindeer Games in December and the Lovely Fox bonus activities in February:

I adopted my Summer Beaver this afternoon.

I purchased mine through the Ganz eStore, but they’re also available on Amazon. (If you have Amazon Prime you’ll get free 2 day delivery!).

I named my Summer Beaver “Sunshine.”

There’s lots about the Summer Beaver that I love. For starters, the colors are really pretty, mostly pink but with some mottling of purple and gold as well:

And the Summer Beaver has a super cute Pet Specific Item, called the Warm River Spa:

After I adopted Sunshine, I wanted to see how she would look playing in Webkinz World. First up was a dip in the pool:

Then some bouncing on the Fun Floor Trampoline:

Last was a nice jog on the treadmill:

Of course, after all that playing, Sunshine was tired and needed a little nap:

I’m still trying to find the perfect outfit for Sunshine. I do like the way she looks in this Flower Petal Wig (an eStore item that matched the April 2016 Deluxe monthly gift):

Ant Mania Trophy Challenge: Tips and Hints

If you read Webkinz Newz, then you probably know that there’s an Ant Mania Trophy Challenge coming up this month. The Ant Mania Trophy Challenge lasts from July 28th to July 30th.

I’m not very good at Ant Mania, so I started looking for some tips and hints at how to get a better score. I came across some pretty helpful information, so I thought I would share it with all of you. 🙂 Maybe it will help you get the trophy a little faster!

Let’s talk about the game itself – you’re a large black ant trying to pick up pieces of food on a picnic blanket…while avoiding smaller red ants. The more pieces of food you pick up, the more red ants that appear.

Eventually, after you’ve picked up a certain number of foods, a spider appears. (The number of food pieces that triggers the spider’s appearance varies according to whether you’re playing on easy, medium or hard.

If the spider or one of the red ants touches you, the game is over. You don’t get multiple lives or multiple chances – one touch, and the game is done.

There are three boosters or “Power Ups” that will also appear on the blanket:

To collect a “Power Up,” just run over it the same way you do when picking up a piece of food. Don’t wait too long or the Power Up will disappear. Like collecting a piece of food, collecting a Power Up also adds to your score.

Each Power Up gives you a different type of advantage and lasts only a few seconds. A power bar at the top of the screen shows you how much time you have left with your Power Up. It starts out green when it’s full, then goes to yellow, then orange and finally red just as it’s about to end.

Here’s the snail in action – you can see that it slows down the red ants (it slows down spiders as well):

Now here’s the tennis shoe – it makes the black ant (you) much faster:

Last is the lady bug armor – this protects you from the “enemies,” like a shield. If  you’re wearing the lady bug armor, you can touch a spider or red ant without losing the game:

Now that we’ve covered the basics, here are the tips and hints that I found:

1. The red ants are faster than the black ant, so don’t try to outrun them. Only when you have the tennis shoe/speed “Power Up” are you faster than the red ants.
2. The spider moves faster if you stay still. Once the spider appears, you want to keep moving at all times because the spider’s speed increases when you’re standing still…meaning it can reach you much faster.
3. You can move diagonally. You’re not limited to up/down, left/right. You can move in a diagonal line as well by using two arrow keys at once.
4. When wearing the lady bug armor, don’t waste time trying to hit the ants. There’s no real benefit to purposefully running over the ants while you’ve got the lady buy shield. They’re only stunned for a split second. It’s better to use the time getting as much food as possible.
5. The lady bug armor will start to flash/blink when it’s about to run out. This is helpful because you don’t have to look at the bar up top in order to know when armor will disappear.
6. You get a lot more points per food when you play on hard mode. Playing on easy and medium modes can help you get more comfortable with the game so you can play on hard mode and (hopefully) get a higher score more quickly.
7. You don’t have to run directly over the food. All you need to do is graze the side of the food in order to collect it.

A Closer Look: Cafe Fireplace

It’s been an exciting summer so far in Webkinz World, with the 2017 Berry Fest and new Jumbleberry prizes, a summer clothing line and new prizes in the Spree Mall.

I made it to the Spree Mall with my TreeHuggerJess account, and I had enough mall credits to pick up the Cafe Fireplace.

The Cafe Fireplace costs 750 mall credits:

As you probably guessed, the Cafe Fireplace makes a  nice addition to a Cafe-themed room:

The brick isn’t a perfect match, but it’s close. The wood on the top and bottom of the fireplace matches well with the wood in the cafe wallpaper and flooring. I like the idea of a warm fireplace in a cozy little coffee shop.

The Cafe Fireplace is an interactive item. You can click on the fireplace to ignite a glowing, flickering fire:

I think the animation for the Cafe Fireplace is really well done. You definitely get a feeling that the fireplace is glowing. I also like that Ganz gave us an item that matches with another theme – like the way that the Fancy Hotel Dining Table matches with the Hotel theme.

Fashion Show! 2017 Summer Clothing Line

The 2017 Summer Clothing Line arrived at the Kinzstyle Outlet a couple of weeks ago, and I’m ready to take a look at what PJ Collie has delivered for this season!

There are 12 pieces in the 2017 Summer Clothing Line. They range in price from 220 kinzcash to 485 kinzcash. Of the 12 pieces, 4 of them are Deluxe only. (The picture below shows which items are Deluxe only – look for the gold star). This season the clothing line is more about creating entire outfits, whereas the 2017 Spring Clothing Line was more of a mix-and-match collection.

Let’s talk about prices:

Now that we’ve dug into the details, let’s move onto the fashion!

I tried something new, and I hope you like it! I designed and built a “Fashion Show” room, complete with a runway, cameras and a dressing room.

Now you can watch a “live” fashion show and see how these clothes will really look on your pet.

It’s no surprise that the Patterned Yoga Pants and Top coordinate perfectly. After all, they have the same name! The two pieces are black with brightly colored stripes. The collar of the top is trimmed in yellow, which I think is a nice details. The Neon Kicks also match with the yoga outfit:

Here is Audrey, my Blue Persian Kitten, strutting her stuff on the runway in the yoga outfit:

Next up is another complete outfit – the “dressy” athletic suit, with pants, a tank top and sandals! Socks with sandals is a bit silly, but hey, Webkinz is all about having fun, right? The teal green color is  pretty, and this outfit really looks comfy.

I like how you can tell that the sandals have adjustable velcro straps. It’s a detail that brings the outfit to life:

So, here is Princess, my Charcoal Cat, walking the runway in this outfit that’s both dressy and atheletic!

It wouldn’t be summer without a trip to the beach! The 2017 Summer Clothing Line has two swimwear pieces – a pair of trunks and a one piece swimsuit. We’ll check out the Sunrise Swim Trunks first.

I paired the swim trunks with the Boy Beach Tee because I think the light blue/turquoise colors match really well. I also added the Beachy Bucket Hat to keep the sun out of Biscuit’s eyes while he’s catching a wave:

Let’s take a look at Biscuit, my Golden Retriever, as he walks the runway in his beach gear:

The other piece of swimwear is the Sunflower Swimsuit. I love the color contrast between the navy blue suit and the bright golden sunflowers. There’s even a really cute sunflower right at the collar. I paired up the Sunflower Swimsuit with the Sunny Sunglasses. I think the yellows coordinate well:

Last but certainly not least we have the beautiful Breezy Summer Dress. The Breezy Summer Dress, which is the most expensive item in the 2017 Summer Clothing Line, has such pretty gold and orange stitching. It really looks like it was embroidered by hand. The colors remind me of a sunset:
