Family Score of 400,000: Gizmo Buddy

Last week I hit the Family Score of 400,000 on both of my accounts and got the Gizmo Buddy!

As you can see, the Gizmo Buddy is a cute little gold and blue robot:

The Gizmo Buddy is one of the several types of “Pet Buddies” you can buy, collect or win for your pets. These Pet Buddies float or fly around your pet in the Clubhouse. You used to be able to see Pet Buddies in your house as well, but that function hasn’t been restored yet since the release of Webkinz X.

Here’s what the Gizmo Buddy looks like in a room in the Clubhouse:

As I mentioned above, there are actually quite a few different Pet Buddies to choose from. One type is the “Zumbuddy.”

Here’s an example of what a Zumbuddy looks like:

Zumbuddies unlock a special area of the Magical Forest called “Zumwhere,” where you can play with your Zumbuddies and earn prizes.

Zumbuddies have their own room, and your pet can sit beside them and watch them play. Here is my Blue Avenue Kitten playing with her Zums:

Speaking of the Ganz eStore, there are other types of Pet Buddies you can buy there as well. Right now there are 3 different Pet Buddies you can buy using your eStore points.

Doug the Dog and Trading Gems

Do you trade gems with Doug the Dog in the Clubhouse? For the past several months I’ve been working harder at finding Doug and trading with him. In the past, I never really had much interest in it, but now I’m on a quest to get those trophies!

It was only recently that I learned that in order to make progress in your gem trading, you must use the SAME pet each time you trade with Doug! For a very long time, I had no idea that the progress was tied to a particular pet. You can imagine that I was very confused when it seemed like Doug kept making me start over and go back to all those ice cream and rock candies!

 

My progress has really picked up speed now that I know to use the same pet each time I find Doug. In fact,  I finally earned all those trophies I’ve been wanting so bad!

Here’s what the three trophies look like:

Here’s a little bit of info on Doug in case you haven’t traded with him before:

Doug is Arte’s brother, and once a day, for only one hour, you can find Doug in the Clubhouse. Click on him, and he’ll ask you to give him a specific gem. If you have the gem, and you’re willing to give it to Doug, then he’ll award you a prize.

Doug starts out by asking for common gems, then he moves on to uncommon and rare gems as your trading progresses. Sometimes he’ll ask for more than one type of gem at a time.

Here’s what Doug looks like in the Clubhouse:

Doug can pop up anytime, but I’ve noticed that he’s generally in the Clubhouse in the evenings, usually between 5pm and 7pm. When he’s there, he stays for an hour, so if he shows up at 7pm, he’ll be there until 8pm.

There are 20 prizes total to collect from Doug – that’s a lot! I’m doing pretty well on both of my accounts. I especially love the wallpaper and flooring that you can earn from trading with Doug:

Thoughts from the Treetop: October 5th

Sometimes I have a few small things I want to blog about, but none of them are enough to make up a whole post itself. Instead of “random posts,” I thought I’d start calling these “Thoughts from the Treetop.” 🙂

First, be sure you’re visiting Sophie in the Clubhouse – it’s a Wiz Kinz themed room, and you can click on Sophie to get one of these really pretty Emerald Jawbreaker candies.(It comes from the Wiz Kinz Jawbreaker Dispenser!) I love going to see Sophie and collecting all the different special foods she gives away!

Next, keep your eyes open for floating coins! The floating coins from a few months ago are back again, and so far each coin I’ve clicked is a gold coin – making it worth 250 kinzcash!

Here’s a bit of fun news for me – I hit the highest score of the day (I’m sure it didn’t last long!) on Get Eleven Solitaire recently. Doesn’t Posh Posh (my Blue Avenue Pomeranian) look proud? 🙂

I got “slips”!

I pulled off an incredible feat the other day in the Trading Room – I managed to land myself a pair of “slips”!

What are slips? Slips is the nickname used for Nafaria’s Purple Slippers.

But why call them slips? Because – and this is a bit strange to me – for some reason you can’t say the word “Nafaria” in the Clubhouse. So, they came to be known as “slips” for short.

They are one of the most coveted items in all of Webkinz World. And they’re very hard to get. I’ve seen them in the Trading Room a few times, but I’ve never been successful in trading for them before.

So what’s the story with these slips and what makes them so special? From what I’ve been able to find out, Nafaria’s Purple Slippers are available as a prize from the Series 4 Trading Cards. I’ve had a couple of boxes of Series 4, and I’ve never gotten any slips. I also read that the slips were a “peek-a-newz” prize at some point.

What makes them so “in demand” isn’t quite clear. I’ve wanted them because they are sooo cute, and they look really great with so many different outfits:

Slips are also kind of a “status symbol.” It’s definitely odd that there could be such a thing as a status symbol in Webkinz World, but it’s true. There are certain clothing items that people like to put on their pets when they’re going to be in the park or the clubhouse. It makes sense in the trading room, where exclusive clothing items like slips send the message that you’ve got good stuff to trade. (That’s my theory anyway!)

A couple of quick updates! The Clubhouse Rooms have changed once again! The Upbeat Chic Room has been replaced with the Olympus Room – and that’s where Sophie Stockwell is hanging out now:

Webkinz Clubhouse Freebies

If you ever visit the Webkinz Clubhouse, then you know that the rooms change from time to time. What you might not know is that some of those rooms have free food items you can collect each day.

Here are the three freebies you can get in the Clubhouse right now:

1. As I mentioned in an earlier post, be sure to visit the Upbeat Chic Room to get an Upbeat Chic Mocha from Sophie Stockwell.

You’ll see  Sophie standing against the wall on the right side of the room. Click on her to receive your free Upbeat Chic Mocha:

2. Then head to the KinzAir Airport to get your free Gummy Luggage:

Click on the vending machine in the corner of the room to receive your free gummies:

3. Last night but not least is our vegetarian friend Daisy – stop by  her diner to get one of several different types of healthy vegetarian dishes.

Click on the cash register in front of Daisy for your daily nutritious snack!

Just out of curiosity, I checked to see how much you can get if you sell these food items to the WShop. As you can see, it’s not much:

My verdict? You get a better bang for your buck by feeding the items to your pets and getting the hunger points. If you’re like me, then you’ll store some of those items away from time to time in case they become “collectible.” Fun foods also make a fun gift when you want to thank someone for being your Webkinz friend!

Go see Sophie in the Clubhouse

I discovered something new last night when I was in the Clubhouse waiting for the Leprechaun. If you go into the Upbeat Chic Room, you’ll see Sophie (the eStore mascot).

Click on Sophie for a free Upbeat Mocha:

The Upbeat Mocha is a food item, so it’s for feeding to your pet and not for decoration. (I wasn’t sure at first!) It’s so pretty to look at that I wish was a room decoration, though.

Quick Tip: Finding the Leprechaun

The search for the Leprechaun officially started today (March 11th), and I’ve got a quick tip on how to make the search easier.

To win the grand prize, you need to find the Leprechaun in the Clubhouse once a day every day through March 17th, which is St. Patrick’s Day. The grand prize is pretty cool this year – a “lucky” go kart:

Finding the Leprechaun once a day doesn’t sound too hard, and it’s not really hard, just pretty boring. Basically, you enter any room in the Clubhouse and just wait for the Leprechaun to appear. Sometimes you wait and wait and wait…

I don’t have any advice for making the Leprechaun magically appear, but I can tell you how I make the process less tedious. It’s really simple – turn up the volume on your computer!

When the Leprechaun appears he announces his presence with a little saying in an Irish accent. So, the good news is that you don’t have to sit and stare at the Clubhouse. Just minimize the window, find another site to browse or play a game on Webkinz Newz, and wait until you hear the Leprechaun’s arrival. Then open the window back up and click on him to be awarded one of six colored “jelly coins.”
