Let’s Visit Vacation Island

One of the perks of being a Deluxe Member is the ability to visit Vacation Island. Vacation Island features activities, items and other perks that you can’t find anywhere else in Webkinz World.

Several years ago, Vacation Island was open to all Webkinz players. To visit, you would buy a ticket from Debbie the Dragon in the Travel Agency. Tickets cost 500 kinzcash.

Now, Vacation Island is only available to Deluxe Members and visiting is free. You can come and go from Vacation Island as often as you want, but some of the activities can only be done once per day.

All together, there are 7 places/things to do in Vacation Island

Here’s a guide to the locations on the map:

4. Sheldon’s Souvenir Shack
5. Treasures of the Crystal Sea
6. Don’t Rock the Boat
7. Post Office

We’ll start with #1, Coral Cove. Here’s what Coral Cove looks like on the inside:

Coral Cove is a place you can meet with other Webkinz players to chat and grab a snack at the Buffet:

According to Webkinz Insider, there are random party events that take place in Coral Cove. During the party, there are raffles where you can win prizes. I’ve never been to one of the parties because I don’t go into Coral Cove very often. Have you ever been to a Coral Cove party?

#2 Island Wheel

Sometimes referred to  as the “Vacation Wheel,” the Island Wheel is a prize wheel you can spin once per day.

The prizes on the Island Wheel are not available anywhere else in Webkinz World, including Sheldon’s Souvenir Shack. Current prizes include a hammock, Captain Dogbeard Plush, recipe foods and kinzcash. The prizes on the Island Wheel do change, but not very often.

#3 Vacation Island Spa

If you want to completely rejuvenate all of your pets all at once, you can visit the Spa. Their health, hunger and happiness will be fully restored…but it costs kinzcash, typically quite a bit of kinzcash. You can expect to pay thousands in kinzcash in order to have all of your pets “pampered.”

Important note: Pampering your pets does NOT award you any family score points.

#4 Sheldon’s Souvenir Shack

Sheldon’s Souvenir Shack is where you go if you want to purchase a little something to remember your trip to Vacation Island. It’s also the only place in Webkinz World where you can encounter Sheldon the Turtle, one of the Webkinz World hosts. (Sheldon can be added to your friends list.)

The items available at Sheldon’s Souvenir Shack vary widely – you’ll see everything from bathing suits to tiki lights and flip flops to furniture. The items offered change from day to day, so you may have to check back if there is a certain item you’re hoping to find. Also, you can only buy a total of 3 souvenirs per day. Once you’ve bought 3 souvenirs, Sheldon tucks into his shell and has a “siesta.”

 #5 Treasures of the Crystal Sea

Treasures of the Crystal Sea is a game that can only be accessed by visiting Vacation Island.

The game is quite simple. Your pet rides in a submarine, and you use the up/down arrows to navigate through underwater tunnels. Along the way you try to pick up white balls (called pearls) in order to increase your score:

As you navigate through the tunnels, you will encounter various sea creatures. These are not your friends – touch one of them, and you lose “health.” If you lose too much health, the game is over.

Luckily you can also collect wooden crates throughout the game. These crates contain “weapons” that can either freeze or eliminate the sea creatures, depending on what type of weapon you’ve collected.

There are 6 levels in Treasures of the Crystal Sea. I haven’t made it past Level 3 yet. It’s not really a hard game, but for some reason I’m just not very good at it. If you do manage to pass all 6 levels, you win a trophy:

#6 Don’t Rock the Boat

Don’t Rock the Boat is a quick and interactive feature of Vacation Island. It’s a bit like rolling dice. You “rock the boat” by clicking the wooden sign inside of the wrecked ship.

You may get a prize, such a Fool’s Gold Chocolate…or a pirate ghost might appear! If the ghost appears, it “scares” your pet and takes away all their happiness.

Another prize you can win playing Don’t Rock the Boat is a map piece. Once you’ve collected all 4 map pieces, you’re awarded the Grand Prize – which consists of these three items:

#7 Post Office

If you want to send a postcard to one of your friends, then you want to visit the island’s Post Office. Here you can send a variety of postcards that aren’t available in the regular Post Office. You can select a message, post card design and stamp design.

New Room Theme: Party Time

Update: I just found out that I made a mistake reporting on the Party Time theme. Three of the items in the collection are Deluxe only. I’ll fix the post soon! 🙂

On May 10th, a new room theme arrived in the WShop. It’s called “Party Time,” and it’s a collection of furniture and decorations to create a birthday party (or any type of party, really).

There are 14 items total in the Party Time collection.

Here’s a list of the items with their corresponding prices:

One of the great things about the Party Time room theme is that all of the items are available to all members. There are no items that are available exclusively to Deluxe members.

To me the room seems a little bare with just the Party Time items. Maybe a smaller sized room would be better, or perhaps the Party Time room theme needs to be mixed/matched with other theme items.

There are two items in the Party Time room theme that I want to highlight – the Snacks and the Presents.These are my favorite items because they can be rotated to create different looks, like the Trolley Wardrobe in the Hotel Theme.

Let’s start with the Snacks.

As you can see from the gif, there are 4 separate designs available within the Snacks – punch bowl, cupcakes, birthday cake and veggie/chip tray:

These snacks are pretty versatile. I can definitely think of lots of uses for all four designs. How about you?

As with the Snacks, there are 4 different looks hidden within just one item:

I love how you can create a unique looking pile of gifts by rotating and arranging the Presents – you can have everything from a solitary wrapped box to a mixture of boxes and gift bags. I think the Presents will be an item I will use in lots of different rooms.

Another item in the Party Theme that I want to spotlight is the Sink. The Sink is interactive. You can go from a clean, empty sink:

These are some really cute details here – look at the confetti sprinkled around the basin of the sink – it really looks like your cleaning up after a party!

A couple of trophies and some Thoughts from the Treetop: May 2, 2017

Sometimes the real world keeps me busy and I get behind on my Webkinz blogging. 🙂  I’m having an easy day today, just enjoying the beautiful weather and watching the birds at the feeders on my back deck.

I’ve got some fun news and some random thoughts to share, so I figured I’d do a Thoughts from the Treetop post and just collect it all in one place.

First I want to share my exciting news (well, it’s exciting to me, anyway) – I finally got a Pet Party Parade trophy! 🙂 I got the trophy a few days ago on my TreeHuggerJess account, and it’s really cute.

When you complete all 30 levels of the game, you’ll see this message:

Then because it was my first time winning the whole game and earning a trophy, I got this message:

It’s the beginning of a new month, and that means a new Deluxe Monthly Challenge. In order to meet this month’s challenge, you’ve got to earn 150 kinzcash playing Color Storm.

Speaking of trophies, I finally won the Candy Bash 2 trophy – and I won it on both of my accounts!

The Candy Bash 2 trophy looks like a chili pepper:

The Candy Bash 2 trophy is actually pretty easy to win once you know the secret/trick to unlocking it. The trophy is awarded randomly, BUT the only way you can have a chance of winning the trophy is by first getting “4 in a row” while you’re collecting the falling candy.

That means “catching” four of the same type of candies/sweets in a row, like this:

Once you’ve collected four in a row, keep playing and wait for the cat (named Gato Loco) to float by across the top of the screen. If Gato Loco is holding a trophy, hit him with a bean – the trophy will fall, and if you catch the trophy before it hits the ground, then congrats! You now have the Candy Bash 2 Trophy! When you catch the trophy, you’ll hear Poncho say “Arrrrrribe!”

The random trophy counter will reset after each appearance by Gato Loco. So if you see the cat but don’t get the trophy, you need to do another four in a row in order to have another chance at the trophy.

I’ve adopted a couple of pets recently. One of them was the Baby Bunny. The Baby Bunny was a special pet in the month of April because Baby Bunny owners got a extra activity each day. (Like the Reindeer Games in December and the Lovely Fox bonus activities in February.)

I named my Baby Bunny “Gidget,” and I think she’s a cutie:
